Correspondence of members of the the Pinckney, Horry, Rutledge, and Middleton families of South Carolina with family and friends in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., England, and France. Included are letters to Eliza Lucas Pinckney from her son at school in England and from her other children, letters from Thomas Jefferson and George Washington to Edward Rutledge, and letters from Henry Middleton Rutledge in Europe to his parents, discussing current affairs. Also included is a letter book, 1763- 1771, of Harriott Pinckney Horry.
